Fort Matanzas guards the inlet which is a "backdoor" to St. Augustine. This 300 year old Spanish fort is now a Florida state park and a wonderful anchorage. |
| Matanzas means massacre. This is where the Spanish killed many French settlers hundreds of years before the fort. |
