Meldrum Bay, as easy and relaxed as it gets.

Meldrum Bay on Manitoulin Island.  A quiet, relaxed, summer camp atmosphere that begged us to stay, so did the girls and their new friend, Janelle. Meldrum Bay is a port of entry so the first thing we did was check in with Canadian Customs. I expected a pile of paper work and maybe a boarding of our boat by some official, but that wasn't it at all. There was a little room at the marina office with a desk and a phone. You pick up the phone, answer a couple of questions and ooh jeez, get your Canpass number. We are ready for Canada. Easy, eh?

We had to leave friendly Meldrum and headed for Gore Bay, party head quarters for many Lake Michigan boaters. It's no wonder, the water is clear with a nice little sandy beach and a great little town. One day, four boats traveling together pulled up to our dock with a 12Volt blender running shouting out, "who wants a daiquiri?"

Gore Bay from the East Bank Park
We took a hike to the east bank park and wow what a view.

The weather was not cooperating on the day that we were ready to continue, strong winds and big swells.

A windy day on the North Channel

Fun on the beach at Gore Bay

So we went to the beach instead.

One, two, three, jump!
