Under the great Mackinaw Bridge into Lake Huron
...
The Great Mackinac Bridge was completed in 1957. It is 135 feet high and about 4 miles long, wow! This is our gateway to Lake Huron and then on to Canada. We managed to get her just as the Chicago to Mackinac Island race was finishing. What a busy time. Racing boats get a free stay at the marinas, but they have to raft up and the paying customers (that's us) get available slips. So it wasn't too crowded after all and there were a lot of beautiful sail boats to see. Mackinaw City had lots of gift shopping and a movie theater. Flipper and Pokey used their allowance to go see... the new Pokemon Movie, for the second time.

The Mackinac Bridge

We stayed here in Mackinaw City for a few days waiting for good weather. Guest crewperson, John, did a lot of window shopping up and down the dock. He loved all of the beautiful trawlers that were there. We also took advantage of the extra time and crew to cleanup the boat and give her a bath and wax.

Happy Family

Happy crew posing with the bridge.  I think I took about 25 pictures of the bridge, it is pretty impressive, but I'll save you by not posting them all on this page.

Round Island Light House
...
We said good-bye to our guest and to Lake Michigan and set off for De Tour. We passed by Mackinac Island and the Round Island Light House through the St. Marys River.
